Garden Pests

Since I am taking the garden by the roots this year, I am trying to do a lot of research about pests. Well, I should say that I haven't been very proactive until now. This week I found aphids on my squash (gross!) and that brought to memory the many pests we have had in our gardens of years past. And not just bugs! We're talking squirrels, rabbits, even cats. The list goes on.

Thankfully, we have a little urban garden so we don't see many deer, but they can be a real problem for many gardeners. When our garden got poached last year of ALL its tomatoes I was heartbroken. Growing those plants was hard work! I like that Havahart® has created a deer repellent that can save your garden by deterring deer in a humane way.

When I was asked to write this post, I immediately checked to see if the product could be used with organic gardening and the answer is yes! I am not a strict organic gardener, but I also want to avoid chemicals as much as possible. Deer Off is OMRI listed and safe to use all over your garden and yard. It has a battery operated sprayer and seems pretty easy to use, which would be really handy with a large yard.

Surprise Giveaway! Stroller Strides Classes for Raleigh Moms!

Calling all Raleigh Moms! I have something really exciting to share! A couple weeks ago I went to the inaugural class for the new Midtown Raleigh Chapter of Stroller Strides. This is a national company that helps moms get back into shape and spend time with their babies! A win win for new moms on the go.

I heard of this program back when I purchased my stroller on Craigslist before Oscar was born. It happened to be the Stroller Strides edition of the BOB Revolution stroller so I looked them up. The workouts looked challenging and fun. However, I had Oscar in the dead of winter and never found a class that would work for us. SO, when I heard that Missy Currin would be starting a class here in Raleigh on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at North Hills Mall, I had to check it out. And let me tell you, she gave me a work.out! I was hurtin! There was an awesome turn out that day and honestly if I hadn't JUST joined the Y and swallowed hard on that sign-up fee, I would totally be in for the long haul with these gals.

The good news for YOU is that Missy has offered to give one local reader of Lil-Kid-Things a FREE 10 Class Pass (a $110 value)! Yippee! Once you start going, you will need to use all 10 classes within a three month period. But the way the class goes, I don't think that would be hard! North Hills also has an awesome kid's play area set up to hang out before or after class and Missy also heads up a local Moms group called Luna Moms. You might just see me out for those events!

Surprise Giveaway! P'Kolino Chalk Table AND Stools!

You guys. I don't even know where to begin! When I was contacted by CSN stores to host a giveaway, I thought it would be a lot of fun. They have a huge inventory with everything from kids bedding to furniture. You know I don't focus on the giveaways here, but I love to do it when I can. 

You can bet I was FLOORED when they agreed to let me give away this table AND stools by P'Kolino! The top of the table is so great.
